Saturday finds, reads. and everything in between - Season 1 Vol. 2

Yikes! I totally didn’t get to last weeks finds. Every week I want to bring you guys what I found interesting, read and basically everything in between. So I’m actually starting this post early in the week and going to add to it as I find the items I want to share so I don’t get behind.

Soooooo……let’s get to it!

LISTEN

There’s a few actually a few this week…..

  1. Business Wars - Estee Lauder vs L’Oreal

This was an interesting 7 part episode on these two companies. It begins on how they started and how they both grew to acquire many other brands under their household name. I love a good storytelling and it was fascinating to see who both Lauder and L’Oreal was created and by whom and why. If you are interested in business and the beauty industry you should check it out.

  2. Gloss Angeles - If the Ordinary and La Mer are owned by the same company, What does that mean when it comes to formulas?

This episode is how I even found about Business Wars so thanks to the girls of Gloss Angeles on this. Again if you are interested in beauty you should check this out too. They give you all the scoop on who owns what. You’d be surprised which luxury companies own smaller companies.

WATCH

  1. This week I went into a deep rabbit hole and watched a ton of upcycle clothing videos. Reason why? Well, I really want a cropped blazer - actually this one. But I knew I could easily upcycle an old blazer but the challenge was to find the right color. I have black cropped blazer but wanted this color for the springtime. So I decided to thrift the blazer and crop it myself. I filmed everything so I am planning to get it on my YouTube channel next week. If you are looking for some good channels to follow, here are a few ladies I love to watch for recycle ideas. The DIY Designer and Blueprint DIY if you are looking for clothing or shoe DIY’s or upcycles. Funny thing I never watched a video on a cropped blazer - I got sucked in watching upcycles on denim.

  2. Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil

WOW. Go watch. She’s so damn talented.

READ

  1. Gabriela Garcia’s ‘Of Women and Salt’ is not your standard sentimental immigrant story

I’ve seen so many great reviews on this book and I’m really intrigued by the story. I have ordered it and plan to read this month. I will let y’all know my thoughts about it. The link above is an article from Vogue, it gives you a little snip of what the story is about.

INSPIRATION

This week I’ve been inspired by gold jewelry. Are you team gold or silver? I think there is a place for both of them depending on what you are wearing but for some reason spring and summer time screams gold jewelry. The way the sun hits the gold is so beautiful and makes me think of summer sitting on the patio having a glass of rose in the evening. I took this photo for my instagram and I love how the gold jewelry popped against the colors on my scarf. Ready for my Italian summer vacation! Ha. One day.
