Saturday finds, reads, and everything in between - Season 1 Vol. 6

Hello! How are y’all? It’s Mother’s Day weekend. It’s a gorgeous day in Texas. I’m spending the day with my family. I am just feeling very lucky and happy. It’s been one of those just good weeks. You know? Everything seems to be on a good pace, everyone you surround yourself is in a positive mood. You can feel the vibration. It’s just a good place to be.

But let’s get to this week’s find, read and everything in between.

LISTEN

  1. Part 1: Rachel Hollis & The Rose-Colored Glass Ceiling - ok….let me tell ya. I was drank the kool-aid and I got Rachel Hollis’ first book Girl Wash Your Face and when I read it, part of it spoke to me. I even gave it 4 stars on Goodreads. Hmmm? Why? Honestly, I don’t even know why. Then I bought Girl, Stop Apologizing. Never read it. Still sitting in my pile of books to read. Anyways, I listened to Kate Kennedy’s podcast “be there in five” and she has a 3 part series on Rachel Hollis.. They are very lengthy but appreciate the research. This is an interesting 3 part series on Rachel Hollis and I feel a bit mislead on her approach to her self help book.

WATCH

  1. Handmaid’s Tale - I watched the first season when it debuted a few years ago and then watched half of season 2 when it came out. Then for some reason I just quit watching. Well, my sister rewatched and caught up in time for season 4. She raved how good it got and need to watch. Sooooo….I decided to rewatch and get a little refresher. So that my friends is what I’ve been watching when I get a chance to. Have y’all watched this show? I really want to read the books.

READ

  1. Style for Ages: Ryan Murphy Talks All Things Halston - THIS!!!! I was immediately drawn to read it. I am designer at heart and love a good story on designers - backgrounds, how they create, what they are inspired by and I’m so thrilled that Ryan Murphy created this series on Netflix about Halston. I cannot wait to watch on Netflix. Also, I love Tom Ford and was so happy to see him apart of this article.

INSPIRATION

This week I am inspired by a soft glam makeup look. Inspired by beauty. Growing up I didn’t wear much makeup, actually didn’t really know how to apply makeup until I stumbled upon a Jaclyn Hill video on YouTube - I was searching videos on brushes. The one I watched was a review on brushes and what they are used for. Then I went down a rabbit hole watching every video she made. She legit taught me how to contour, bake, and blend via a video. I posted a makeup video on my channel today. It’s what I am calling Spring Glam Makeup, typically what I would wear when I am shooting a video or I want a long lasting look. I will link video here.
