Hi friends! This week I found, read, listened to and soaked up lots of info. Below are just a few that I want to highlight.

LISTEN

  1. My Darling Diary by Jessi Afshin

What a refreshing podcast that is vulnerable and raw about love, faith, and the influencer world. Her message is beautiful and the fact she walked away from a successful influencer business is mind blowing but finding out why is almost not surprising honestly. The fact she actually had the courage to do it is incredible because most woulnd’t with a following of 300K. I don’t know if there is any podcast that discusses the blogging community (if there is please share with me) and how toxic it actually is. Most, keyword, most, bloggers are fake and mean girls and don’t really care about you. They only care about how much money they can make from you. They are the modern day salesman. Gotta get that commission, right? I feel like there’s a way to do it honestly. I understand we all need to make a paycheck but you can tell which are there to help you and let you know what item(s) are worth it and then there are the one’s that have the steals and deals for you everyday that actually are crap and not worth it. Anyways, check out her podcast.

WATCH

  1. Stylish with Jenna Lyons

OMG I want more of this new show. I freaking love Jenna Lyons. She is a style icon. One of my style icons. She mixes functionality with glam and makes it looks so effortless. I’ve been following her career for years. I love that her new realty show follows her as she launches a new company. If you love interior decorating, fashion, beauty you‘ll love this show. It’s on HBOMAX and here is the blog that coincides with the show with extra tidbits of info.

READ

  1. How a year in lockdown inspired me to double down on my sustainability commitments

This was an interesting read that lead me down the rabbit hole with a few other articles. I’ve briefly touched on the subject (it won’t be the last) that I am wanting to move towards a more sustainable lifestyle with my clothes. However, I am a designer, a creative passionate person; this something I mentioned in my Spring Trends 2021 post in the bonus section and hope to create a line centered around this subject. A line that is more committed to less is more with intentions of being mindful of our planet but still enjoying the beauty of fashion and all it’s creativeness.

BUYS

  1. Something I bought this week was this coconut melt. Ulta had it on sale (sadly the sale is over) but it’s totally worth getting even at full price. I just ran out of mine and picked up 2 of these. I love putting this oil on after I get out of the shower. It feels so amazing on the skin. I’m not a huge fan lotions, I am more of an oil type of girl. I feel like it soaks in my skin better than lotions. Also, it’s more than an oil for you skin, you can use as a make remover, or use it as a mask on your hair (haven’t tried this but going to give it a whirl). It’s multi-functional beauty product.

INSPIRATION

Are you in complete wanderlust lately? I feel like we all are right now. It's been over a year since I’ve been on a plane or traveled more than 2 hours from where I live. So this week I am dedicating my inspiration to travel, no place in particular. Below is a collage I created in 2013 for research for my brand at the time. I wanted a collection full with shades of blue, from dark blue to sky blue, I wanted beautiful lines and shapes to be apart of the fabric. I wanted the collection to be airy, comfortable and practical for everyday wear. This quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald really inspired the collection

“I’m not sure what I’ll do, but — well, I want to go places and see people. I want my mind to grow. I want to live where things happen on a big scale.”
